The Sleeping Dragon Welcomes Back The Voyager

Several weeks ago, I have posted something about the Sleeping Dragon. Not the mythical fire breathing dragon but the Sleeping Dragon of Sta. Maria, Davao Del Sur. And last weekend, May 31 to June 1, my friends and I were warmly welcomed by that mighty giant again!

Stressed from a hard days work, we decided to visit back the Mariscal Beach Resort located at Sta. Maria, Davao Del Sur. Often, it is called as Little Boracay because of its Cream Sand Beach.

Saturday's weather was perfect. The clouds were clear indicating that the whole trip will be a lot of fun. Indeed, it was. Phillip, Wendel, Thirdy, Jong, Gary and I took pleasure in going to the place. Our eyes feasted on the scenic view of the whole province. Magnificent hills, vast coconut and mango plantations and a lot more. Maybe, this is the reason why the province's motto, "I Am Proud I Am From Davao Del Sur” were all over its town. As we passed by the town of Sulop, we grabbed a bite of the famous Bibingka! We concluded that the hotter, the fresher, the better! When we got to the view deck of Sta. Maria, we were gladly welcome by the enchanting view of the Sleeping Dragon. Very fine-looking plus the fact the weather was great. The usual thing, taking pictures for the sake of Friendster. LOL! Different poses! Different angles. Perfection was the key to achieve a great photo shot. LOL!

As we arrived at the Mariscal Beach Resort, the clear bluish beach was calm inviting us all to take a first soak of our feet to its cream sand. Beautiful! It was my third visit to the place but nothing had changed. I still felt the calling of the sea like before. We were welcomed by the locals selling freshly caught fish at a very low price. Some offered a boat trip to another beach place they called Paradise at Php 35.00 each which all of us agreed. Going to Paradise was amazing. The boat carried 4 persons. The water was crystal clear. As a matter of fact, corals are clearly visible. Paradise also offered another great location for another perfect Friendster’s photo sessions. LOL! Gary with his infamous Mossimo pose, Jong with his dramatic style, Phillip with his legendary smile, Wendel with his melancholic show, Thirdy with his wacky comedic photo approach, and I, on the other, with my renowned “sit on the sand” pose! Gary said it is my signature beach pose! Hahaha! After the “picture taking” sessions, its snorkel time! I never realized until this 3rd visit that Sta. Maria’s beaches were so blessed with beautiful corals. The seabed was copious with different corals of different colors and different shapes. School of fishes including the famous Nemo (clown fish) were all over these corals. Amazing! Our eyes feasted on these beautiful creatures. Truly, underwater is like another world!

When we were back at the Resort, we started preparing food for our dinner. Hours later, Archie, Nan, Von, Cocoi and Sheila arrived. Hence, the night will be a lot of fun! Chef Phillip prepared his infamous Mongo, tasty Pakbet, enticing Paksiw, tempting Barbeque and a lot more. The whole night was filled with great music, delectable food, crazy conversations from jesting stories to comedy to horror and the intoxicating Generoso amalgamated with Red Horse. Haaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy…. What a night!

The next day, another Picturan Day. This time, it’s the battle between the first group and the second group! All for the sake of Friendster!

Indeed, the beach trip to Little Bora of Sta. Maria was amusing! After the hard days work from the city, we were treated with perfect time to relax, unwind and spend quality times with good friends. Sta. Maria, Davao Del Sur – we will be back! This time to awaken the Sleeping Dragon! Waaahhhhhhhhhh. LOL!
